If you have noticed that the time is not correct on your computer or multiple computers in your company, then it seems that Windows time service is not running and it will lead to different issues.

Causes for Windows time service errors


  • Missing Windows time service
  • Faulty system file
  • Faulty Windows time service

Solution


Start windows time service

  • Steps
    • Open RUN command (Windows key + R)
    • Type > services.msc > ok
    • Right click on Windows time service in the list > Properties
    • Under general tab [Make sure the Startup type is set to Automatic (Delayed Start) and the service is running, if not then click on start]
    • Apply > ok

Run SFC and DISM

If the system files related to Windows time service are corrupted, then we have to scan   the system

  • Steps
    • Open Command prompt (run as administrator)
    • Type > sfc /scannow > ok
    • Once the scan is finished, restart the computer and check for errors.
    • If the issue still persists, then run the DISM scan
  • Steps
    • Open Command prompt (run as administrator)
    • Type > DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
    • Once the scan is finished, restart the computer and check for errors.

Temporarily disable firewall

  • Steps
    • Open RUN command (Windows key + R)
    • Type > control panel > ok
    • Click > System and Security > Windows firewall
    • Select Turn off windows firewall
    • Restart the computer.
